Future projects

Renewal of track equipment between Bovisa and Saronno

Renewal of track equipment and upgrading of  tracks between extreme switch points of Bovisa and Saronno stations and of passing tracks and fly-shunting lines of Novate and Garbagnate stations.

• Time scale: preliminary project is being approved by Lombardy Region so that it will be possible to make the definitive project.
• Investment: 21 million Euros.

Construction of third track between Affori and Varedo

Construction of the third track on Affori-Cusano; Cusano-Palazzolo and Palazzolo-Varedo sections.

• Investment: 80 million Euros.

Interchanging areas

The evaluation by Lombardy Region and Brescia Province is in progress for the construction of interchanging areas:

• Castegnato (estimated investment: 6,2 million Euros)
• Breno (estimated investment: 1,8 million Euros)
• Iseo (estimated investment: 7,5 million Euros)
• Pisogne (estimated investment: 1 million Euro)

Work to replace level crossings
Work to replace level crossings along the Brescia Iseo Edolo line (Pisogne).

• Investment: 0,3 million Euros.

As well as the work in progress, at the moment no other work is being carried out on this section.

Work to replace level crossings
Work to replace level crossings on the Saronno-Como (Rovello Porro, Rovellasca, Lomazzo and Cadorago), Saronno-Varese (Locate Varesino, Tradate, Venegono Superiore, Gerenzano, Laveno)

• Time scale: this work is to be carried out in the next five years once agreements with the local bodies concerned have been reached and the necessary funding has been found.
• Estimated investment: 55 million Euros.

Iseo
Upgrading of the Iseo depot and preparation of a project for a new depot-workshop for new rolling stock.

• Estimated Investment: 5 million Euros.

Grandate
Construction of a cycle/pedestrian underpass to eliminate two level crossings and a station cycle/pedestrian subway to replace the crossing level of km 6+552. The project is being approved by Lombardy Region after the agreement of the city of Como. The executive project is in progress.

• Time scale: call for tenders is planned after approval and financing of the project by Lombardy Region.
• Investment: 1,8 million Euros.

Galliate
Project: upgrading of the Novara – Galliate railway section with doubling of the line outside the town of Galliate, positioning of the new station so as to construct a road-rail interchange node between the FNM network, the RFI/TAV (high speed train) network and the Turin-Milan motorway; line design modernization (signalling, electrification and telecommunications along the entire section), a new bridge over the Naviglio Langosco; elimination of existing level crossings and interferences between the line and local road traffic as well as elimination of interferences with the hydrographic grid thanks to appropriate hydraulic works.

• Investment: 78 million Euros.

Varese: project 1
At Tradate the project plans the upgrading of the platform and of the pedestrian underpass with elevators; at Abbiate Guazzone the project plans a cycle underpass with elevators and upgrading of platform and construction of a car underpass to replace the crossing level of Via Vittorio Veneto.

• Investment: 5,4 million Euros.
